Cohesive
Sep 30, 2023
I was sitting here texting jokes with one of our mutual neighbors, and I remembered a recent conversation where someone, I don't remember who, was commenting on how cohesive our neighborhood has gotten.
I mean. I think this neighborhood's cohesiveness quotient has always been at the high end. Between the small size and the large number of kids in a similar age band… It just seems like we lucked into a truly amazing little community.
Even when all I had was a teensy cute little crush on you, I felt like we landed in the perfect spot for me since the day we moved in. Literally. We were carrying boxes into the house when our new next-door neighbors came over (the ones we're all worried about now…) to introduce themselves. And invited us to the upcoming neighborhood potluck… the very event we're now in the process of helping to put together for this year.
But… whoever it was who said this, they pointed these same things out… that the neighborhood has always been close. We've all always been maybe a bit tighter-knit than your average neighborhood. But they said something's happened in the past year or so, and it's felt even more so. More events are being arranged. There's this whole new group text (which… lol… I noticed initially included your coworkers… I guess I could have said something… lol, I'm sorry I didn't…).
And… the thing is… I know why. At least for the events I've coordinated.
And I suspect I know why, for a few of the events you've coordinated.
So. A side effect of our slow-motion romance that isn't yet a romance is bringing our neighborhood even closer together than it already was. And… that can't be a bad thing, can it?
The only real question is…
What happens when we pull the trigger?
…
I'm willing to find out if you are.
Yours,
